Every Garment a Story, Every Stitch a Spell
In this self-initiated tribute to Alexander McQueen, I explored the haunting dualities that define his legacy: elegance and grotesque, control and chaos. Inspired by the theatricality of his runway shows, I designed a print and digital campaign that celebrates McQueen’s ability to turn fashion into spectacle. Using high-contrast imagery, fragmented type, and shadowy textures, the work evokes a feeling of reverence and rebellion. The project is a visual love letter to the artistry and emotion that defined McQueen’s vision.
The animation extends the poster series into motion, amplifying McQueen’s dark romanticism through time-based design. Dramatic pacing, layered textures, and stark typographic shifts echo the theatrical intensity of his runway presentations. By weaving in distortion and fragmentation, the piece mirrors McQueen’s fascination with beauty and brutality, creating a moving counterpart to the static posters.
